One of the biggest bands the world has ever known, Queen are responsible for some of the most the iconic songs in rock history. The band became formally known as Queen after Freddie Mercury joined with Brian May and Roger Taylor in 1970; bassist John Deacon joined just before the release of their debut album in 1973. Queen found great success following the 1975 release of their third album A Night at the Opera, which contained the legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a song that would stay at number one for nine weeks and be credited with popularising the music video medium. Queen went on to have several top-selling songs, including “We Will Rock You,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and “We Are the Champions,” and their legendary appearance at the 1985 Live Aid concert has been ranked as one of the greatest performances in rock history. Although Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991, Queen’s popularity continues on and has even seen a resurgence following the 2018 award-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody.
