Despicable Me was an unexpected smash hit in 2010 and introduced the world to the instantly recognisable Minions. The story follows supervillain Gru who, after finding out a fellow supervillain managed to steal the Great Pyramid of Giza, decides he will go one better and take the moon. To help Gru with this colossal undertaking are his loyal Minions who do his bidding, as well as three orphan girls who Gru intends to trick as part of his evil plan. Filled with humour, redemption, great one-liners, and lovable characters, Despicable Me has ensured its place in the Animation Hall of Fame and has since inspired multiple sequels and spin-offs, including Despicable Me 2 (2013), Minions (2015), and Despicable Me 3 (2017).
